Toyota Connected

I currently lead a global engineering team including hundreds of developers across North America and Japan. Our team led the process of bringing in-vehicle software development in-house at Toyota. We are currently developing the next generation of Toyota multimedia systems, heavily utilizing Flutter and embedded / Yocto Linux.

I wrote the script for Flutter Engage keynote announcement of partnership with the Google team delivered by our UX design lead.

I also gave a talk and demo at the Automotive Linux Summit (ALS 2021) about integrating Flutter with automotive Linux.

Prior to this, in 2017 we developed and released a pair of car-sharing applications for iOS & Android. These applications take advantage of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) digital key technology to allow customers of Hui Car Share to lock, unlock, and drive hourly rental vehicles in a completely automated and self-service program in Hawaii.

At the time of this writing, these are the highest-user-rated mobile apps ever released by a first-party Toyota company, and customer satisfaction with the program is generally high in a technology space where satisfaction can be challenging to maintain.

A case study I co-authored on the technology is published on the Toyota Connected website.

Check out the apps on Google Play or the App Store!
